New engine for logistics:
SCM solution to accelerate supplier processes through AX4
Deutz AG – with production facilities in Germany, Spain, China, and Argentina—has a supply chain dominated by many international players and involving shipments by air, sea, and road. Simplifying the supply chain and streamlining the channels of communication requires a system for sharing information quickly and easily.
AX4 from AXIT is an IT platform that allows Deutz to link its suppliers and carriers directly to the just-in-time and just-in-sequence synchronized supply processes in its assembly operations. Previously, the details of an incoming delivery became known only when the goods were checked in. Now, the cloud-based network allows everyone involved in the process to share data quickly and provide complete shipping data early on. Utmost transparency helps eliminate supply bottlenecks in Deutz’s plants.
„Standardization has greatly accelerated our processes and saved us money at various points along the supply chain.”
Wilfried Riemann, Senior Vice President Global Operations Compact Engines, DEUTZ AG
With AX4 AXIT offers the DEUTZ AG a platform, which enables the engine manufacturer to connect its suppliers and forwarders directly to the just-in-time and just-in-sequence supply and assembly processes. As delivery details were only available after booking at the stock receipt in former times, the cloud based network now provides a fast data exchange between process participants and early information about all shipment data. Supply shortfalls in DEUTZ manufactories are prevented through maximum transparency.
AX4 in use at Deutz AG:
- A sustainable improvement in the quality of the logistics was achieved
- The move was also good for the bottom line: Optimizing the supply chain eliminated the need for investments of €1.5 million that would’ve been necessary to expand capacities
- More than 1,200 users process over 70,000 shipments each year using the AX4 logistics platform at Deutz
- More than 260 suppliers and logistic partners have already been integrated into this platform
